I know some have asked this question before but I will ask myself, how many trains a day run on the CN Flat Rock sub these days. The last two times that I have gone to Carleton, there seems to be nothing on that track. Any info is appreiciated. Thanks.

The last time I spent a morning in Carleton, I saw a train with NS power head into Flat Rock from Diann about 8:30, followed by a train with I&O power headed the other way twenty minutes later. That was it for the entire day through 3:30 pm. I have no idea whether this is the norm or not. I do not know train symbols and did not have a scanner.

Well we will repeate the answer again then. NS runs one each way, from Flat Rock to the AA on to Toledo. The I&O runs a Delta Turn, up from Delta to Flat Rock and Back. And mabey an ocasional CN switch job if I rember. Thats it.

I've seen a lot of threads with questions about this line, and we alway seem to come up with the same answer: that occassionally you'll see a train but who knows what or when it will be! I've found a morning southbound (westbound?) I&O train to be fairly common, but that is all. I think the southbound NS train for Diann and Toledo is a afternoon/evening run, but I don't know. After dark last summer, we saw a light I&O geep come north toward Flat Rock Yard at Carleton, and an hour later head back south, still with no cars! I suppose the best way to answer this question would be a 24 hour stake out at Carleton to see just what goes through. Who's with me?! :)

Hey I am with ya on the stake out at Carleton. Since I was from there years ago I have family down there, I lived in Carleton till I was twelve and I used to see many trains on the track. But being in college doesn't give me the time for a 24 hour stake out right now, but I do graduate in September and so afterwards would have the time.
