Busy Times On The LS&I
Busy Times On The LS&I
I got a phone call last week from a friend who works on the LS&I. He said there were two boats at the dock, and two more at anchor waiting to get in. They were running a "Double Dock"---two crews working the dock at the same time! They were doing well until an engine failure left one crew under-powered. The U30's are getting tired!

I don't think things are frozen yet. Some years, even after the locks freeze, shipments to Algoma Steel in the Canadian Soo can go on quite long into the winter. (I don't think boats need to use the locks to get from Marquette/Duluth to the Algoma plant)

Apparently, this one wasn't much of a success.

the shipping seasons is when the locks are open and closed, I dont know when they closed this years, but first day open for them is March 25th and yes the GE have served well for there use, and Id asume looking at the past they will end up with some other type of GEcool, i thought shipping season ended a long time ago? or are they still running cause the lakes havent froze?
