Trip to Milwaukee, 10/22/11.

Unread post by Jochs »

My brother and I went to Milwaukee over the weekend, before heading to Chicago later, and caught a few trains south of there around Sturtevant, WI.

Here's a couple of CP trains we saw.

Here's a rusty caboose in Sturtevant.

And a train with new tractors parked.

I think this was near Caledonia.

Jeff that shot of the SOO 4438 was probably the unit they are using for the Sturtevant Patrol, the local train based there in town. I'd also bet that the rusty caboose you saw is used by the local train as well. My friend worked for the CP back in the late 90's briefly and worked on that job a few times.

I never tire of pictures of GP38's. Those last models were especially attractive with their unique blower housing, tapered air filter boxes, level side sills, and large anticlimers :)
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

Here are some more pictures.
These were before we saw any trains. The first few are around the Sturtevant Amtrak depot. This was built as a replica of the old one, which was moved to Caledonia, WI near a park.

And of course we saw the CP trains at the beginning of this thread.
Then we went to a park in Caledonia where the original Sturtevant (Corliss) depot was moved. When it was built, Sturtevant was called "Corliss."

Is it a coincidence that the port-o-potty is supplied by Pat's??? POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!

After railfanning, we headed down to Wheeling Illinois to attend the 2011 Pinball Expo at Wheeling, IL.

WOW! Sturtevant sure has changed a ton in the last 11 years! The last time I was there was in July of 2000 and the old white depot was still located across the tracks.
