DUS on 2013-08-23

Unread post by jkh2cpu »

My arrival at DUS was around 11 AM and the first train trundled by around 2 PM... Radio chatter indicated a mechanical problem with an east bound at Perry. Anyway... A few shots from the day. After a few east bounds HESR came to town with this pair of engines. Any bets on how long it takes for HESR engines to wear the same uniform?

The afternoon Pontiac (or further south?) autorack rolled by... Its timing later in the day gave a better sun angle on the train.

A little unusual consist wise was the CN 5373, not to be confused with the CN 5473 which has been seen in the neighborhood recently. It's a real SD40-2, and according to my sources (http://www.thedieselshop.us/CN.HTML) it started out on the UP.

... And finally a west bound heading into the sun, more or less.

Yes, 2028 is former 2014. All of the old CMGN stuff has been renumbered.

Whats this HESR 2014 stuff? It was always a Central Michigan until G&W started to renumber everything.

I never really noticed how faded the front of the engine is until the newer red was recently applied. I'm ready for the G&W colors now.

Here's what 2028, errrr...2014 looked like with CM colors, which is accurate because it did get the Pinkerton CM logo and treatment:

I have to say, the G&W crew that is patching up the old locomotives' "predecessor" logos and nameplates is doing a fantastic job. Half the time it looks like no patching has been done at all!

Yeah, some people don't realize there was never an "HESR 2014", an HESR 5175, 8903, 8905 or an 8804. Those engines retained their CMGN reporting marks until they were retired or recently renumbered.

They must use Lowe's "Store Your Paint Colors" Service

If the RA units get anything before the orange & yellow, it'll probably be something similar to what the 1721 got...which looks pretty sharp IMHO.
