Ep. 429: 4-way Railroad Crossing with GRS LEX-C Flashers!
Ordinary automated crossing protection yes, but how often do you see four sets all in the same place? Silver & Elliot on the southeast side of Grand Rapids, MI is one example.
Two residential streets cross right on the double-track CSX Grand Rapids Terminal Sub. For years this has been a four-way gates and lights setup, but it is still very common to see residents running the gates.
In addition to the crossing itself, all the lights are GRS LEX-C 8" flashers. Rare throughout the country, they're all too common in Michigan. Here we have 16 of them. Too bad they're paired with Generic E-bells!
Consist:
- CSX 2659 [GP38-2]
- 1 box [Buffer Car]
- 7 propane tanks [from Alto Gas]
Location/Time:
- CSX GR Terminal Sub, GR, MI, Elliot & Silver Sts xing, on 2-20-15 at 17:45 EST

Re: 429: 4-way Railroad Crossing
Cross and river in ypsilanti is similar, but just with three gates. One long gate for the west side, regular gate for the east side, and a long gate angled between the north and east sides. There is also a traffic light which I beileve works with the gates to provide red lights but I may be wrong.

Allen road and Northline road, on the Lincoln Secondary to Carleton, or whatever they are calling it now.
