CSX Report 1-27-2009: Romulus Raiders

Unread post by Racer »

Today I got out of class and checked-out Romulus to have Geeps and Tabone railfanning down there, too. I didn't expect to go down there so I have no camera, but a written report of what we saw:

12:40pm: CP 23T Westbound with CP 9766, CP 8791 and 85 cars (22 loads and 63 empties).

12:50pm: L63 Westbound with NS 5263 (Still in Conrail Operation Lifesaver paint) and no cars.

1:05pm: Q321 Southbound with CSX 7539, CSX 8709, and 85 cars (2 autoracks, 46 covered hoppers, 13 AEX hoppers (Looked like they were yanked from storage) 9 tank cars, 5 boxcars, 2 centerbeam cars, 5 loaded gondolas, and 3 spine cars that looked to have some sort of garbage load containers on them).

1:45pm: Q289 Northbound with CSX 8077 ("Colonial Phillip Hooper" stamped under the side window) and CSX 7874 switching empty autoracks at TDSI in New Boston.

Dispite the fact I didn't have my camera, it was pretty good day to see trains compared to the last 2 weeks of almost nothing.

Great pics Mike. The first two are nice compositions with the fence. CSX 8077 was the leader on the Santa Train of 2002 and 2003 in the southern states.
