Even if 4449 and 765 weren't going to be at the festival, I would still go JUST to see this engine. DEFINITELY one of the prettiest diesels I've ever laid eyes on! These pictures DO NOT do it justice.

Gregg, I agree. That has to be one of the best preserved E or F units out there. And it runs! Which makes it all the more awesome

Did she used to be semi-permanently coupled to a B unit and then get converted over to coupler?

Not that I can recall, she has always been a couple in the back. The couple of times when we went from Roanoke's museum to their museum in Spencer, and learning on it, I cant ever recall them saying she was once a perm A/B. Though I could be wrong, I just dont ever recall them saying it was.

I believe the EMD FTA/B's were the only units that were built drawbarred together. I think all later F units just had couplers.
