CSX is rebuilding their SD40-2's with the Admiral Cab too. I refer to them as "Butt-Ugly Cabs".

Those CSX ones are not admiral cabs, totally different designs by different companies. A company in PA builds NS's cabs, an old navy admiral designed the things, hence the name. CSX's cabs look like NRE genset cabs. The other major difference is the NS one's are overhaul and recab, the CSX ones are complete rebuild to -3 standards.

A little more info. The Admral cabs, the front window area is angled into the cab from below the numboards, to just above the nose. The CSX cabs are angled from the middle of the cab to the side, like a old GP30 cab. Was just in the 4014 Monday.

I noticed that with the SD40-3s last time I saw one on Q334. The angles on the cabs look similar to those on the 3 GP60s CSX owns.
