Thermite Welding on the Sandusky District

Unread post by B-Town »

Here are some of the photos I took while I hung out with a welding crew near the control point at Powell Road near Lewis Center, Ohio. They were a cool group of guys that work out of Bellevue. There job is solely to replace "bars" (rail joints) with new thermite welds. There are apparently over 24,000 of them on the NS system, so they won't run out of work, soon! :D

Thanks!
I'm almost up to 1,000 words in the article I'm writing to go along with the photos. I managed to interview one of the NS employees while the weld was doing its thing.
