Railfanning Worthington, Ohio - 2/17/2012

Unread post by B-Town »

After going to the gym on February 17th, I went to Powell Road to watch trains. When I arrived NS 235 was at Cooke Road and it soon passed under the overpass.

Then I migrated down to Flint to catch the remainder of the trains. First to come through was 170.

Next, NS 117 rolled on through in good light.

After that, things got interesting! 18M began to pass through Flint with no problems.

The train then had an air hose disconnect. The train went into emergency and the car with the broken hose was about five car lengths down from the Park Road crossing.

Since it was National Random Acts of Kindness Day, I decided to walk to the head-end to tell the crew where the break was. L3J was approaching in the opposite direction, so they had that train pick up the conductor and take him to the hose.

They ended up having to get a new hose brought to the train all the way from Watkins Yard on the completely opposite side of Columbus. In all, the fiasco took about two hours. Oh...Did I mention they were blocking Park Road in the process the whole time?
