Each freight train had about 20-25 cars. Which one is the west bound? In the 2nd freight video is that Ypsilanti?

AARR on June 28 I caught the westbound Amtrak freight through Depot Town with only 30 cars, including 10-11 lumber loads. I took a photo of it I'll have to upload it soon. That was around 7:45pm I believe. Also saw 355 and 352 that evening.

Ypsi's 2nd freight video is in Depot Town/Ypsi...the old MCRR passenger depot is in the background.

I spent 2 1/2 years living in Ypsi while attending Grad School at EMU. Some people may think I'm crazy but I really miss that area! Thanks for keeping us up to date on the railroad scene there, Ypsi!

I'm growing up in this town and I love it! I was born into Conrail and raised with NS. I have been raised with the michigan line and have seen the ups and downs, the rare catches and the long hours between trains. I've dealt with the 25mph running and I've seen the lines rebirth. And I believe that there will be a day when I will see more trains a day; stackers, manifest, Amtraks, and maybe MI train. I will always keep Ypsilanti on the RRfan map 8)

(videos are being uploaded now as well)

"Kids on the bridge at 35" (18 seconds in the vid)

NS cop showed up about 30 Min. later. They were jumping off the AA bridge toward the dam. Very Stupid

Ypsi, great AA video. I've not seen one from that angle before. I'm slightly jealous, my girlfriend lived just across the river from where you were in an apt. for almost a full year and I only caught the Annie in that area about 2 times. I miss that area!

You should check out some of the older videos on my youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/GP30M?feature=mhee (Keep scrolling to the bottom, I don't have hundreds of videos, it won't take long)

I have several of Amtraks around Ypsi and Ann Arbor, the Annie in various places around AA and Milan (including a sweet night video of the northbound Annie passing that teardrop bell on a stick you photographed), and NS train B34, which was NS' first major road freight after they dropped 38J and 39J when Grand Elk took over near Kzoo, before the 38E and 39E designations were instituted. I'm sure you'll find some familiar locales. Enjoy!

Alright I will check it out! We picked that spot because of the parking and shot over the bridge

Nice report, heard them coming north but could not make it in time. On another note, the Annie just removed the switch to Burts forest supplies on felch street, making fingerle lumber and the passing siding at ferry the only spurs left in AA

really wish the owner would drop the $99,000 price tag on NYC #48... really a shame it looks as bad as it does.

Interesting that you caught these trains on Sunday. For most of the day the AA GP39-2s idled on the Saline Branch while an army of workers repaired the track damaged by a derailment on Saturday. I was going to wait for this grain train to head south through Pittsfield, but personal commitments prevented me from doing such. I'm glad you could catch the train instead! BTW - what time was the train going through?

they got to Osmer at 7:05 and went back over the bridge at 8:11 pm
