Pretty good day at the station for me... I was there for two hours, got to meet some of the regulars there, and we saw 4 trains while we were there.
Pulled into the lot, folks were waving me over to the platform, I rounded the corner to find my first train, Mixed Consist East bound, two locos on the lead... on the far track... (Track 1, I think).
It got the red dropped on it at the signal on the East End, so it slowed to a stop, and waited for our #2 train to come West Bound.. CN 397, which came up short, cut away half the train, and went through the station wye then backed into the yard to pull about 70 cars out. Then it went down and cleared the switch, backed through the station wye, and grabbed the cars left on the mainline. Air test completed, it pushed back until the whole train was on the main. About 10 minutes, and with a lot of groaning and smoke those two locos started that 12,000 foot long train rolling through the diamonds headed for Battle Creek and beyond... Lead Loco CN 2615 FF644D.
Interesting was railcars #2 & 3 in the consist, they looked like iddler cars used to load car ferrys... I'll post some photos when I get a minute...
Train #3 was a GLC train coming off the Pontiac Sub, right through the diamonds and into Durand yard and beyond... didn't see it come back through..
Train #4 was a CN train, only 33 axles according to the detector... West Bound, came through the station wye, and then headed on down the Pontiac Sub.....
I ran outta time, and had to head out.... Great day, and met some nice fellas while I was there...
On a side note the new signals East of the station on the Port Huron Sub are BRIGHT, you can see them easily from the platform now... There are new ties strewn about the line all through the Durand area, scuttlebutt says they are gonna be doing track work starting next week.... Just a heads up..
