To continue from the "Wyandotte" thread. I figured this would fit here. Location, Pleasant st. River Rouge. Time 11:10 AM. Trains, 4 all at the same time ! Conrail's Trenton 3 ( NS 5292) was waiting on main #1 at "YD" for Conrail's RR 61 (NS 5056) to come out of the yard and head to St Mary's. While Conrail's RR 2 (CSXT 4401) was making their way up the Bridge lead to switch the City of Detroit waste water treatment plant. And the NS 39 E (NS 9728 / NS 8355) coming off the Jct yd running track to do work at Conrail's Rouge yard. And about a hour later the NS 31 M (NS 98631) headed south on the # 1 main.

Do any of the Conrail jobs mentioned above have Monday off?

Been down to Pleasant street. Looks like a war zone. Pavement kind of hard on your vehicle.

At "YD" / Pleasant st. this morning at 0930a there were 4 trains . The NS 288 w/BNSF 7745 & BNSF 6896 was sitting on the #1 track /NB at "YD".The NS 178 w/ NS 8891, NS 6752 & NS 5318 was sitting on the Jct yard running track / SB. The NS 31 M was sitting on the #1 track / SB at "YD" They were waiting on the Conrail Trenton 3 job that was NB on the #2 main to shove off into River Rouge yard. After the TR 3 got out of the way. The NS 178 came down the #2 rail to do their work at Conrail's River Rouge yard. The NS 288 went around the corner to Oakwood yard. And the NS 31 M was able to go south on the @ 1 main. Not too bad for a Friday morning.

Another busy day Downriver. The CN has been working on the Flatrock sub in Ecorse,Wyandotte & Riverview over the last 2 / or 3 weeks. CN signal guys have been cleaning up and painting the signal boxes along the ROW too. Lot's of mixed up power floating around also. CP, KCS & IC on the NS. NS & CSX on the CN. Kinda hard to tell which railroad your looking at ;-). Today the Loram ballast cleaner was working on the Shoreling sub. in Riverview and is tie up for the night on the fence track at Harrison street in Trenton by the park.

Last spring I caught one of the GO units on the wabash eastbound, headed to Toronto to work on GO. Not sure why It would he stopped in oakwood, but that's interesting. The newer units are painted with a darker and lighter green and white in the middle.

Lots of fall colors ( on the rail :-) ). Along with some pumpkins ( EJ&E & BNSF ) . Also the CN is working a tie gang NB on the Shoreline sub. in Riverview now and will be in Wyandotte soon. They have ties dropped all the way to Coolidge. NOT Downriver , but contractors are on the site of the old bridge that conected the Michiganline with the GTW yard that was north of West Detroit. The bridge needs to be replaced before Amtrak can make the connection to the NS Old main again.

Well, the CSX coal train that has been sitting at the Trenton power plant (arrived last weekend) is costing DTE a bunch-o-money every day while they repair two conveyors that are broken. The track extention project is moving along quite well (so far ,so good) with the Toledo road crossing scheluded to be removed on 8/28/15.

Toledo road crossing is gone. I was the last vehicle over and the NS 332 was the last train over the crossing just before it was ripped up. Coal train is now empty and should depart tonight or in the morning.

Conrail's new River Rouge yard office almost done. Tie and Surfacing gangs in town and will be starting work next week. Their equipment is tied up in the Advanced yard. MPI removed one of their crossings (to door #3 ). The crossing at Bailey road ( CR Lincoln sec ) was removed the first week of Nov and will NOT reinstalled.

Tie and surface gang working their way north. Done up to the bridge on #2 main. Still have to do #1 track. Some equipment tied up at Rouge yard and some at Livernois yard ( #1 NYC ). EXCEPT this guy ! Who broke an axle while working and had to be removed from the track with a crane.

St Marys Cement ( or Blue Circle or LaFarge or ???? ) on both sides of the tracks. The main plant on the left receives raw material by ship/boat/barge and ships out bound loads by rail ( a lot lately after a long dry spell ). The plant on the right has a few tracks that lead to the silos from Delta yard, but has seen no rail service in years. I have seen trucks unloading material into the silos and of course bulk storage on the water front.
