The foam was VERY heavy at Franklin Park on May 5th. Lots of railfans turned out for CP 2816 (which makes a brief appearance in this video, the 2816 videos will have their own separate video), but also for these things. Metra’s new SD70MAC-H’s. Which are modified SD70MAC’s converted to haul Metra’s commuter trains, and believe it or not, from all I’ve heard, this has been a smashing success! Crews love them, the railroad loves them and they do an excellent job.

Metra expects to have 25 units on property by the end of 2024. If I remember correctly, these units are of KCS descent and are rebuilt by Progress Rail in either Mayfield, KY or somewhere in Alabama.

Glad to hear these units are a success! I know there was some QC issues with the first few but it seems they've worked out the bugs now
