Re: Different takes on RR lettering
There used to be a dispatcher named Bob that worked for CSX up until a couple of years ago. His main job was the RA desk, which consists of the Barr sub in suburban Chicago. One of the main crossings at grade on this desk is State Line Tower, which is controlled by the IHB dispatcher, who is also located in the same building as the CSX guys. Anytime Bob would have a train stopped at State Line due to cross traffic he would waddle over to the Harbor's dispatcher(he was a little over 5 feet tall and about 300Lbs) and start yelling at him. After some words were exchanged, Bob would go back to his desk muttering under his breath, "IHB...it must stand for the I Hate Bob Railroad." Anytime I see something stopped at State Line I think about that and laugh to myself.

Re: Different takes on RR lettering
Anyone remember the ill-fated proposed merger of Santa Fe and Southern Pacific back in the 1980's? Before the merger was finalized, a new paint scheme and "SPSF" lettering were applied to some engines. When the merger deal fell through, some folks were referring to the 'SPSF' as Shouldn't Paint So Fast.
