What Railroad-Related Videos and DVDs Do You Have?

Unread post by cbehr91 »

A post by redside20 got me looking through my railroad video collection (besides the VHS-C, Mini DV and HDV footage I've shot myself over the past 10 or so years). I'll post here what I have and I'm curious to see what else some of the members of the board have too. (if you so desire to share)

It's also interesting to see how my tastes have changed since I was a kid and not all of these I bought myself, a lot of the Revelation titles were freebies, as well as the sole Green Frog title I have. And I haven't watched a lot of the titles with older subject matter in years.

Along the Hudson Division (Pentrex, 1992)
From the Ashes (Revelation Audio-Visuals, 1991)
SP's Central California Mainline (Pentrex, 1996)
The Stormy (Pentrex, 1995?)
Beaumont Hill (Video Rails, 1992?)
Muncie: Indiana Hotspot (Neff Video Productions, 1999)
Garden State Arrow (Revelation Audio-Visuals, 2007)
Blue Twilight (Revelation Audio-Visuals, 1999)
Erie-Lackawanna Legacy (Revelation Audio-Visuals, 1996)
Erie-Lackawanna Legacy - Update #1 (Revelation Audio-Visuals, 1999)
New Jersey Transit Push-Pull (Neff Video Productions, 1988)
Garden State Keystone (Revelation Audio-Visuals, 2002)
Vignettes of the Penn Central Volume I (Clear Block Productions, 2003)
SP's Geeps and Cadillacs (Pentrex, 1995?)
Cajon Pass - Tehachapi Loop (Pentrex, 1985)
Vignettes of the Jersey Central - All Three Volumes (Clear Block Productions, various years)
Lackawanna Steam - Volume I (Mark I Video, 1999)
Summer Along the Ontario Northland Railway (Revelation Audio-Visuals, 1998)
B&O In Transition (Revelation Audio-Visuals, 1992)
Lackawanna Diesels - Freight & Passenger Power (Mark I Video, 1988)
The Friendly Service Route (Revelation Audio-Visuals, 1994)
Lackawanna Legacy (Mark I Video, 1985)
The Pennsylvania Railroad - From the Camera of Emery Gulash (Green Frog Productions, 1992)
Rhapsody in Black & Blue (Revelation Audio-Visuals, 1998)
UP's Marysville Sub Volume I (Pentrex, 1995)
Norfolk Southern's New Castle District (Neff Video Productions, 1999)
Norfolk Southern's Sandusky Line (Neff Video Productions, 1999)

I also have several Railroad Video Quarterly issues from the mid and late 90s and I was a subscriber this year. Additionally I have a tape produced by Pentrex of Wheels of Progress and Big Trains Rolling both of which are sort of "rah-rah" films from the mid-50s, one for the Rock Island and the other about the American rail industry as a whole.

I have a few of the Revelation Titles and some of his programs are hit and miss. Of course i'm talking about the producer of Revelation: Ron McElrath. I have met him a few times at shows and is quite the character, very quirky and very intelligent. His trademark is his odd if not deadpan narration in his programs. One of his programs ;Erie Lackawanna, the west end and another one the route of the Phoebe Snow are one of his best programs. Like many of his older material, the silent movie footage is filled with classical music cuts.
