Amtrak certainly has its problems, but I'm sure they'd be greatly reduced (or nearly eliminated) if all Amtrak trains ran on dedicated rail systems. As long as they have to share the same lines with freight, there will ALWAYS be delays and problems. Of course, a dedicated line will never guarantee 100% performance, but it would clear up a lot of problems. However, the chances of that all across the U.S. are next to nil.

The Europeans did it right...they dedicated high-speed lines to passenger service only. I'm sure you'll NEVER see 6 hours delays on the TGV lines.

Yes Amtrak had issues, but so dose Greyhound, United Airlines, GM, Ford, Mopar nothing ever goes go 100 % with customer service. I really want to strangle the person that came up with the statement "Customers are always right", in working customer service, that line is a complete crock. That guy could have just not humped the old lady the night before and brought his problems with him onto a Amtrak train. Everyone has there own opinon, but thats a bit much.

Keep in mind, that comic also had something about a socialist/communist/something-along-those-lines note at the top. I doubt it was supposed to be an accurate portrayal of what would happen if Amtrak actually DID get full federal funding...

Some of what was said is true, but a better system that received it's share of funding would cure many of those ills. Some cities need express service on one or more trains. One of the three Wolverine trains should board in Detroit and not pull into a station until passing Roosevelt Road.
