You plan accordingly. You'll learn that someday when you have that responsibility.

GRHC - you know every night I can imagine he is in front of his computer screen sitting in his underwear swearing profusely and drinking Blatz beer combing the RailRoadFan website for grammatical errors.

Whole family is going to Cancun for Thanksgiving. If it's like last year, it'll be just 2 checked bags for the 6 of us

 Clothes & stuff for the plane (books, Ipod) in the carry-on, then everything else in the checked baggage....saves decades at checkpoints and customs.

For anyone interested, there is a book that was written by the engineer who designed the Mighty Mac: David B. Steinman. It's entitled Miracle Bridge at Mackinac, and was written shortly after the bridges' opening. The book is a comprehensive telling of the designing, financing, building, and opening of the bridge. I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who is interested in this sort of stuff. It's written in "plain English" for those who don't understand engineering-talk.

I've probably crossed that bridge close to 200 times in my life now. My whole dads side of the family is from the U.P. I love that bridge.
