Fall color photos this year
The snow/rain may be howling now, but not too many weeks ago the fall colors were quite beautiful. Did anyone get any good shots this year amongst the colors? Here are a few of mine:
Let's see some others!Re: Fall color photos this year
I managed one ok shot this year... Didn't get around to shooting the colors like I wanted but that's the price of busy life. Might as well contribute it though as it's what I did this fall. I caught 38E running early in the last light, near some of the last good color I had near me.

Only a couple decent ones this year:
GP30M4216, was your first CP one from some other year, or is this a scan of a film pic? Quality looks really poor. The 2nd and 3rd look of better quality though.

Re: Fall color photos (videos!) this year
These two were my best takes of an overall lackluster fall season...

Looks like 90219 got fresh paint since being pushed from Michigan line service. Looks nice in fresh phase 5 paint, and the anti-glare panel is a nice touch to those units.
Nice shots too JT, lots of neat elevation you have found

Not from this fall, but looking back through my archives I see that my only fall color shot from Anthrax Curve has an ACe and Grinstein just like Zack's shot above:

Actually the CP shot and the Williamston depot shot were both on film and just days apart. Not sure why one would render better than the other. The third shot was taken on a digital camera but given the angle of the sun I'm surprised there isn't any significant glare.GP30M4216, was your first CP one from some other year, or is this a scan of a film pic? I think I edited both film shots using the same photo software. The negative scanning was done OK but not great. Here's the same image worked a couple differen ways, take a look and let me know which looks best to you.

Here's one of the better ones I got this fall, what I think was M348 just west of Tappan. Not a nice day, weather wise, but because of that weather the color was mostly gone the next day.

Nice one, Charles. Fall colors look great on cloudy days!

I didn't do a whole lot with trains this fall, but here's three of the better ones taken on a charter on the Durbin and Greenbrier Valley Railroad between Spruce, and Elkins, WV.

And here's three non-train ones.
We had some fantastic color around WV this year, and I enjoyed the brief 2 week period to shoot it.

All great shots, Loyd, but the two that really stand out to me are the second shots in each post. The waterfall photo is beautiful. Have those falls been whored out or were you able to find a unique view of them?

Re: Fall color photos this year
High Falls is only accessible by a once weekly train ride out of Elkins or an 11 mile hike, so it's not photographed heavily. It's also a rather wide scene with close quarters that require a wide angle lens to fully appreciate.J T wrote:All great shots, Loyd, but the two that really stand out to me are the second shots in each post. Re: Fall color photos this year
Ypsi, your shot of 38E reminds me of this shot I took back in 2010 near Webberville:
I love the Appalachian mountain scenery photos - beautiful Loyd. I was hoping to get up to the Berkshires this fall to try some similar shots but I never had a chance to get up there after May this year.
Of course, JT has some beautiful shots - brand new shiny NPCU, CSX blue and yellow in the orange and yellow, Orange and Green BNSF in the orange and greenery, etc. We expect nothing less around here!
