I used to use my real name, but I stopped that after getting in a heated "discussion" with another user at another train-related discussion forum, and then I got a very nasty, threatening letter mailed to me anonymously to my house, most likely from that same other person. Although I didn't use my full name in my ID on that other board, I did link to my railroad pictures web site, which had "copyright by (my full name)" on each picture. I figure that's how the perp tracked down my real address. He had to go to a little bit of trouble, I reckon, since my address isn't listed with the phone company, nor anywhere on the web that I can find. Of course, that anonymous coward is free to come and visit me any time he may feel up to it!

So some of us have good reasons for not giving up too much info online.

Also, BTW, it was because of that "incident" that I decided to take down my RR pictures webpage. Pity, as it now deprives the foamer community at large of another resource that could have been of value to them.

I used to be LSRC Railfan on Michigan Railroad, and when I moved over there I shortened it to LSRC. No idea why I didn't do my real name...guess there's no real reason to. Nothing for me comes up when you google my name as there's a Republican Representative for the Missouri House of Representatives who shares the same name. Apparently, he's well on his way to being the governor of Missouri. There's that, and Jim Guest is also a pretty common name.

I've thought of changing my name on here to Jim Guest, but since everybody knows me as LSRC I don't really see what I would gain from it.
