Re: Where am I?
I-75 was built during the 50's & 60's through here. Not sure if there was a bridge here before that.

Here is a topo map from 1952 of the spur which predates I-75

The depot is gone, only the two tracks remain today. NLM

Grawn, mi. If I am seeing this right, we are looking west north west, and us31 would be just to the other side of the train, many years later.Pixl wrote:The depot is gone, only the two tracks remain today. NLM

Re: Where am I?
EW you are correct. I find this location a bit unusual as they put the station in the middle of the run around tracks (still there today). Seems most stations are on one side or the other giving better access.EWRice wrote:Grawn, mi. The tracks run pretty much straight East/West in this area, and yes no US-31 yet. I can't even see if there is a dirt road there yet.

Is this available on street view? If not I'll have to go down to Ohio and start driving around.

Whoa, that's a crazy narrow approach to that bridge. Now I want to go drive through it!Michael wrote: The view from both sides of this one lane road under the railroad

The bridge is the Chicago Line. It looks like the bridge over the road that runs by where the waterpans were east of Edgerton. Google shows it as County(?) Road 6.ConrailDetroit wrote:It is not on google streetview.Pixl wrote:ConrailDetroit wrote:The first hint is somewhere in Ohio.

That one was fun! Did you happen to get any shots of what's left of the pump buildings above the road?ConrailDetroit wrote:CorrectGreatLakesRailfan wrote: The bridge is the Chicago Line. The building looks like the old Quaker Chemical (don't know what it's called now) in Detroit but the trees are throwing me off.

Re: Where am I?
Yes it is Quaker Chemicals on the Highland Park branch. Which is the last/farthest customer on the line. Serviced by Conrail's LV-4 as needed. Things have slowed down on this stretch of railroad the last year .AARR wrote:The building looks like the old Quaker Chemical (don't know what it's called now) in Detroit but the trees are throwing me off.Michael wrote:
