For fans of Hardees, there is one on M51 (South 11th St. I believe) south of Niles a few miles north of the stateline.
This may interest anyone coming to the Fall Meet in Elkhart.
If you eat here, check out the old photos on the wall from when this was originally a Burger Chef. I have faint memories of Burger Chef, but I do remember the one on Riverview Drive in Benton Harbor, which was later Hardees, Henry's, and a Fish Hut. The only Henry's left around here (and possibly the country) is in the Fairplain area of Benton Harbor.

Another local restaurant in Benton Harbor/St. Joseph is Roxy's, a drive-in style. There's one near St. Joseph High School in St. Joseph at Cleveland and BL 94, and Roxy's Brown Lantern on M139 between Pipestone and Napier.

There used to be one next to Kentucky Fried Chicken on M139 in the Fairplain Area, in the 1990's there was Roxy's Depot Diner at the St. Joseph Depot, and Roxy's Drive-In on Main St. in Benton Harbor. The depot restaurant became RJ Caimans and is now Silver Beach Pizza. The downtown Benton Harbor restaurant closed in the late 1990's.

there was a burger chef in Bellevue as well, as i barely remember the place. It had to after at least 4 or 5 years after i was born that it became a hardees. I do remember eating there. back then Bellevue had no mcdonalds or burger king
We had burger chef and Clancys and Wendys appeared on the scene in the early 80s. Pizza joints ruled the roost in Bellevue as we had at least 10-15 pizza joints as late as 12 years ago.

Ive only been to the Five Guys in Troy, but they are ridiculous with their fries. They pour more into the bag just for the heck of it.

There are a pair of Hardees in the Detroit area, in Sterling Heights and Hazel Park.

Wow, thanks for the "blast from the past" pics Jochs! I remember .18 cent hamburgers & .25 cent cheeseburgers, delivered in 45 seconds, when they first opened up. Lansing had 2 that I remember.

Jochs, MAN!!! that old 1960's Burger-Chef photo sure takes me back! We had one here that looked just like that. It went out of business around 1977 or so. It is still standing today, called the "Copper Chimney", and I think they serve Indian food.
Thanks for that blast from the past!

Here is a website with old Burger Chef buildings and signs, some left to deteriorate, others used for new businesses.

Here is what became of the Burger Chef in Wyoming, MI.. it's now a pawn shop.

Optical illusion, I know, but at first glance the Pawn sign looks like a KKK outlet.

Growing up I always thought the sign for the pawn shop looked like Jesus. It really confused me but now it makes more sense.

They gave the guy a beard, for whatever reason. I thought they made him look like a leprechaun with the red hair and beard. Originally it was black hair and a mustache.
There used to be a chef's hat on top of the man's head, and I think the signs were covered with neon lights and flashing bulbs like older Arby's signs, not back-lit like most signs are today.
Note the creative use of his hand, they remove the spatula and made it appear he is holding money.

That's the light on the man's head...this sign was origninally covered in Neon.
With the white background in the picture, it does look like a pointed hat.

I drove by the Wyoming pawn shop over the weekend. The old Burger Chef sign is no longer there.

There is a Chinese Restaurant in South Haven which still has a kite-shaped sign and familiar building.

If there ever was a restaurant that disappeared from the state of ohio, it would be......RAX. i miss Rax and the ones i usually went to was up on Ohio Turnpike at the Commodore Perry Plaza just north of Clyde Ohio. I just found out by looking them that there is a Rax in Lancaster! and another one in Hillsboro Ohio. They must've gone through a big restructuring deal awhile back.
