Many years ago when the tractor unit trains started the average train speed from orgin to destination (including switching in yards, transfer from western to eastern railroads, etc.) was around 12 mph. The joke at the time was they could drive the tractors there faster than the trains could transport them :lol:.

Some of them newer tractors can do 35mph easy. Some wheel loaders can do 40mph easy. And JCB has come out with a backhoe loader for the military that will travel at convoy speed accross the desert at 60mph I believe.
