I was just browsing through a few "Storm Stories" videos when one caught my eye. Jump ahead to 8:44 and look at the damage and the railroad crossing.

Is'nt it amazing that the signal box survived and the rest of the area didn't.
But that brings up another question. Are train crews notified of severe weather?

Re: Tornados and Trains
They are supposed to but CSX is notorious for not telling us crap. Mostly all they tell us is Flash Flood and 1 in a 1000 sever thunderstorms

I had a twister pass over my locomotive (STLH something) while running through Pullman westbound a decade a go or so. ENGR and I wondered, Do we stop and cower in the nose? Keep going and see if we stay on the rail?
Lost a ditch light and the ENGR's mirror to flying debris.
"spatcher came on at about Hartford to "warn" us of severe weather.
K - thanks man... Only been tone-ing you up since Pullman.
