Not sure if any of you have this book or not, on my "want" list. Here's a PDF preview of the book....looks neat.

I'm always weary of color reproduction on self-published books. Can anybody who owns the book speak to the quality of 1) photo reproduction and 2) paper and binding? I'd likely pick it up if it's at least on par with a Morning Sun release.

I own a copy of the book, and I'd say it's one of the best books ever produced pertaining to MI Railroads. The book is very well written, and the pictures are very crisp and colorful. There are a few shots in the book that were a tad blurry to begin with, so they appear that way in the book. I'd say it's on par with a Morning Sun book, the binding is excellent for a soft cover, and the cover is a hard, durable yet flexible material that won't bend or wear out as easily as a paperback. All in all though, a great book with high quality pictures that I'd recommend to anyone interested in Michigan's railroad history.

In the 1st picture of AA 390 crossing C&O can someone confirm what location that is? I think it's Clare looking east.

Don, looks like the shot was taken in Alma to me. All of the other shots on that page and the page before it are from Alma, so that's what I'm going off of. The angle of the diamonds also makes me think it's not Clare.

You may be right. I thought the track angle looked a little too sharp but other than that I can see where that may be Alma.

I agree whole-heartedly with Jon. The content alone would make a Michigan railfan (especially one who has an interest in the 1960's to 1980's era) go weak in the knees, even if the photos were scattered on a cheap card table. But the way the book is laid out is impressive, too. It's like taking a state-wide railfan trip with the advantage of a flux capacitor...It takes you back in time a bit.
Excellent book, IMHO.

Are there any pictures in the book from the Manistique and Gulliver cities in the UP?

I, also have the book. I like it a lot, I just wish there had been some PH&D items in it.
