Rain and railroading almost broke my butt one day last summer. Let's just say that steps get very slippery when wet.

No, theres a difference. Railfanning, you don't have to to get out. Railroading, you do

This was the first time i ever saw a completely yellow nosed C40-8 and i just noticed it now, it was a rain snow mix that day.

Funny thing about that was it was sunny, then a massive cloudburst with one of those really strong downpours came and I just pulled the car over perpendicular to the tracks and rolled down the passenger side window enough to shoot from my seat without getting wet - I think the resulting tele compression helped accentuate some of the rain but it was coming down so hard it felt like sitting under a waterfall. It was hitting the train & ground so hard & rapidly you can see the back splash or spray. Train passed and about 5 min later so did the rain and it cleared up to sunny again after that. Weird weather afternoon that day.

Here are some pictures of D700-25 headed east through Riverside, MI, on their way to Grand Rapids after leaving Benton Harbor. These were taken at 3:31pm, 4/25/12, during a light rain.
