Same with railfanning, especially filming with a non-waterproof camera
Especially when its windy and wants to tear the umbrella from your hands

Rain and railroading almost broke my butt one day last summer. Let's just say that steps get very slippery when wet.

No, theres a difference. Railfanning, you
don't have to to get out. Railroading, you
do

Funny thing about that was it was sunny, then a massive cloudburst with one of those really strong downpours came and I just pulled the car over perpendicular to the tracks and rolled down the passenger side window enough to shoot from my seat without getting wet - I think the resulting tele compression helped accentuate some of the rain but it was coming down so hard it felt like sitting under a waterfall. It was hitting the train & ground so hard & rapidly you can see the back splash or spray. Train passed and about 5 min later so did the rain and it cleared up to sunny again after that. Weird weather afternoon that day.
