Interesting...aside from the opening shot at Three Oaks (would've been an interesting location for the Where Am I thread... 8) ), and the shots on the train, all of the location shots were in Chicago. Honestly, it looks more like a college videography project than any sort of official Amtrak promotional video, IMHO. Nonetheless, I think it's pretty well done.

I don't know how old you are but if you live long enough you will see many things that make you think, "Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse...it does" And it will.

Nice job Amtrak but if this is your way of getting people to ride the train they may want to know what you are and how you spell it :P

This isn't an official Amtrak video. Probably a college video project.

"Sponsorship" can mean a lot of things. In this case, I'd guess that MDOTOOR (or whatever the real abbreviation is) had something to do with the permission they would have needed to film in certain areas, such as the passenger car that was obviously set aside for the group shooting the video.

CHICAGO – Conductor Markus Shields isn’t an Amtrak employee and the Midwest corridor café car business class section isn’t normally decorated with gold fringe hanging from the overhead luggage rack, but a YouTube parody video, created in the Gangnam-style popularized by Korean pop sensation PSY, is approaching 25,000 views. PSY is a South Korean singer, songwriter, rapper, dancer, and record producer. He is known domestically for his humorous videos and stage performances, and internationally for his hit single Gangnam Style. The song’s refrain “oppan Gangnam style” (translated as “Big brother is Gangnam style”, with PSY referring to himself) was entered into the Yale Book of Quotations as one of the most famous quotes of 2012.

The video incorporates the sound track of PST’s creation with visuals depicting a conductor dancing on the train, and through more than a dozen Chicago locations including Union Station’s Great Hall. According to Amtrak, it was produced last fall primarily with Michigan Department of Transportation funds (and with the cooperation of the city Of Chicago) to promote student travel between Michigan and the Windy City. The video’s on-board sequences were shot at Amtrak’s 14th Street coach yard as students sporting shirts from various Michigan colleges posed as passengers. Also making an appearance: deli sandwiches on the new café car menu.

It made trains :)
