Lake Michigan/Huron back to "average"

Unread post by Saturnalia »

The lakes are back above the long term average! Up 19 inches in just 12 months. So much for the doomsday predictions

Of course "average" is not "normal". The lakes fluctuate on a cycle, so moving between those two every couple decades is "normal".

I know it's just a cycle, but The Endless Winter helped reset the water tables in a few places! Just a couple of years ago, I drove along the St. Clair River and people quit extending their docks out into the river and just let them end in the sand. Couple of poor souls didn't take their boats out of the hoists before the water levels receded too far. Looked kinda weird with the boats just sitting over a sandy beach. Glad to see things a little more "normal" :)
