NS MI update 6/29/09 mysterious train?
something came through Ann Arbor at 12:19PM does anyone have any idea what it was? it was not amtrak but i dont think it was B34. could it be a grain extra to albion? it was westbound. my speculation is that it is just a track machine going to park on the team track in AA but you never know.....

I did a check of the Amtrak website and it says that 353 arrived on time into Ann Arbor at 12:22pm, so I'm suspecting that is what you heard.

That's the only thing that has been out there. Janga, pay attention to your amtrak schedules, and horns. Amtrak engines have a different sounding horn than NS. OR as others have said, listen to a scanner. When I was 15, I use to have my scanner playing all night long, whether I was awake or not. Take a note book to bed with you and write down what you hear. Eventually it'll stick, and you'll know which trains are which without having to ask.
The dispatcher is cool.

JJ, Amtrak schedules for the Wolverine route have recently changed as you probably have figured out. 353 doesn't arrive into Ann Arbor at 12:56 anymore. It comes earlier. To my knowledge, I know that 350, 352, 353 and 355 have changed. I'm not sure about 351 and 354. Of course, you can go to Amtrak's site and get the updated schedule.

Hmmm you must be right! thanks for the help. i thought it was not amtrak cuz being 30 mins early is a rarity....
Re: NS MI update 6/29/09 mysterious train?
When I worked out on the Northeast corridor, it wasn't unusual for some of the long distance trains to be hours early on their way into New York City, but those trains only dropped off people. You're right, it would be something special for an Amtrak train to be running 30 minutes early. When Amtrak went to the Bluewater schedule, some days the train would arrive into Durand 20 minutes early, can't remember if we ever hit 30.
The dispatcher is cool.

352 and 354 seem to have the same departure times out of Chicago, but Its looking like the Blue Water has changed around as well.
