What prompted the installation of this little jewel out at Judd Ave. ? We have an incident between a Company truck and a train?

Most likely a RCO thing. They have been putting those up all over the system where people are allowed to make moves with out protection and this is there way of keeping traffic out of that area.

They used to just have a chain across this that said something about "RCO controlled area"....guess the chain and post was too manual, and now they can automate it with a gate.sd70accsxt700 wrote:Most likely a RCO thing. Well, yeah...but that crossing has been protected for years with a chain and sign as Zack said. I guess they probably thought that couldn't do the job any more.sd70accsxt700 wrote:Most likely a RCO thing. Probably a switch in a building somewhere in the yard that the crew can flip to put the gate down when they're using RCO equipment. I saw them putting the base in a few days ago, wasn't sure what it was for until now.

Something for the rail fans to ride on when they are waiting to see some type of activity at Wyoming yard.

Re: Judd ave crossing ? HMMMM???
Upon further inspection today and a demonstration from the yard crew leaving for the day the gate isnt automatic its locked into place with a switch lock then when they lower it they lock it in the down position and repeat as necessary so its lil more labor intensive that the old chain method
