Watched D700 northbound cross the Kalamazoo River bridge in New Richmond from my kayak about 4 PM today. Sadly, I did not have a camera with me. Four cars trailing the power.

Surprised we didn't hear anything about the progress of the rail grinder Thursday afternoon and all day Friday from the Lansing crew.

Went out around 3pm to see Q335 and stumbled across the railgrinder working away at Fox in GR. They did a few passes just west of the siding, then ducked back into the siding to let Q335 go through. Went westbound again, only stopping to do a couple passes at Seymour, then ground away on #2 track at Seymour through Godfrey and tied up in Wyoming Yard, crew belly up at 7pm. Not sure about the work due for tomorrow though.

I wouldn't say that CN_Okemos and I qualify as much of a crew. He monitors CN more most of the time. I try to keep tabs on CSX as much as I can, but I've been a little too busy recently to do much fanning around here. That said, I've been in the Southeastern part of the state for the past two days, otherwise I would have made a stab at trying to get that grinder.

Well Mr conrailmike you were not seeing things that is a new coal train for Conrad Yelvington in flint that is about the third one they have gotten now. I don't know where the coal is going from there. It is being trucked some where. Maybe Harbor Beach? Suger Beet plants?

Hello Mr. Tops Its been a while since that site in flint got coal, Back in the late 1990's and the early part of this decade that place was known as Savage industries they used to get coal trains to, It was for the GM plants in the area, And the suger beet plants. And late this summer i started to notice a huge coal pile in there, for the first time in years. Thats good news for us railfans. This is the third train that i have seen in there. So far recently.
