Re: GTW/CN Santa Train
Got this a day or so ago from a person in the know.
"Schedule is as follows....
Flint the 18th 1800 to 2000
Port Huron the 19th 0900 to 1100
Flat Rock the 19th 1600 to 1800
Pontiac the 20th 0930 to 1130
Battle Creek the 20th 1530 to 1800
the 20th would be the easiest to see it in Lansing, I don't know where
it will come into Michigan or when exactly on the 18th"

Re: GTW/CN Santa Train
Per Steven, riding on Amtrak 365 this morning, the Santa train was sitting in the yard at Battle Creek this morning at about 9:20am. The consist is the same as it has been in Previous years: both IC E9s and three passenger cars (two IC coaches and one CN business car). The engines looked to be fired up and the markers were lit, so look for an eastward run towards Flint today.
Re: GTW/CN Santa Train
Gregg, if you hear/see this go through Lansing today, can you let me know? I'm heading that way in a couple of hours to go to Ann Arbor for a Christmas party tonight, and if it hasn't come through Lansing by the time I'm going through, I might stop and wait for it. Thanks.

Re: GTW/CN Santa Train
I thought you had my number, CALL ME next time. I was literally sitting a few hundred yards away all morning. I thought I heard them call out 100 or 101 on the scanner but I blew it off.RailCanon wrote:Per Steven, riding on Amtrak 365 this morning, the Santa train was sitting in the yard at Battle Creek this morning at about 9:20am. Assuming they leave PH at 11AM tomorrow anyone care to guess actual transit time through Delray and into Flat Rock (assuming no major delays)?Larry G wrote:Got this a day or so ago from a person in the know.

Re: GTW/CN Santa Train
Best option would be to listen on the scanner for when they clear Nolan, which is at East 8 Mile Road in Detroit.
Then they will get a route at Milwaukee Junction onto the Shoreline and they will likely go via the Shared Assets unless the engineer isn't qualified.

Re: GTW/CN Santa Train
I have my scanner going here at my desk an heard the dispatcher (Andrea) repeating back that IC 101 was clear of 48.
Notw if I am not mistaken that is the lead unit on the Santa train. Also, I do not know where 48 is I will guess this might be a Mile post on the My Clemens Sub. I heard this about a little more than 5 minutes ago.
Edit to add.
OK I just heard further and MP 48 is around Haven.

He was getting clearance to go on the Holly Sub from Woodward Station then around Milwaukee Jct onto the Holly about 10 min ago from TD 2 on 160.530 CH 2. It is going to Pontiac, & the crew will be going back to Flat Rock via a taxi. Time now is 10:57pm
