Thanks for the headsup Donnie. I heard them pulling east out of Grand Rapids at 8:20am this morning. They had a track inspector out ahead of them, and were told that they would meet CSX Q335 on their way...if this is so, sounds like 335 will be making an earlier arrival than what I usually hear them doing....does this X100 head to Toledo?
This morning, also heard Amtrak out ahead of me, pulling out of Holland at 8:35am, with their Pepsi Can #504 leading..very cool watching them last night down at the depot and following them back to Ann St.
Also this morning, D708 was doing their airtest as X100 was leaving.

I do I do I do, had CSX 7709 leading, CSX 7579 trailing elephant style 7000 feet, had to meet Q335 at Brighton cause South Lyon couldn't hold them since Q335 was 9000+ feet yesterday!!!!!!! I caugth them in brighton, some how beat them back to south lyon on back roads, then went north to Holly to catch them there, but it was to dark for shots when they came by so I only have 6 shots

X100 destination
So let me get this straight. X100 was from Chicagoland to GR, GR to Plymouth and then north to Flint? Are they storing these cars in McGrew Yard? I never was able to find a final destination. Thanks!

doubt it, crews are for the Western Coal that comes via the sidedoor in GR then north at Plymouth to Flint. Now that it is the same crews, I plan to shoot a E945 in Wixom, go to Dennys, get some pancakes, then go to South Lyon and catch them there again going west. Great Lighting options all around.

Just looking at the map, I see that would be pretty easy to get ahead of them between the two. Nice that it's almost U shaped from south lyon, down to Plymouth, and back up to Wixom. You can get some decent light no matter what way the train is going for most of the day.Mike Tabone wrote:doubt it, crews are for the Western Coal that comes via the sidedoor in GR then north at Plymouth to Flint. But, They could reinstitute a Q336/Q337 as a GR-Flint train via PLymouth to eliminate the delay of running cars from GR to Stanley, Stanley to Walbridge, then Walbridge to Flint and back again. Ought to shorten Q334/Q335 a little bit and free up some space and time in the Toledo Yards. They probably won't do it, but it would be nice if they did!

if I was feeling frisky enough, I could ride to Wixom on the old GT Jackson Branch, catch the train, then ride back to South Lyon and wait at the east end where it comes out at for the train, thats a spot I haven't tried yet, directly at the east end crossing, on the sidewalk, I"ll have to try that.
