I don't exactly remember, I think I was searching for "railfan" related sites and came across it.
Re: So how did you find out about RRfan??
I remember the dark ages. Before Railroadfan.com, this punk named Zack had a site, http://www.anthrax.fateback.com, which had train photos from the Kalamazoo area. I found it through a link on Woot's old "Muskegon's Railroad Crossing" site about 5 years ago. Eventually, railroadfan.com became a seperate entity from the fateback site, but although the URL was railroadfan.com, the site was actually called "B1G - The Big Train"; this is when Zack started posting more pictures and started the message board. Atleast that's the way I remember it...

I was in a dark men's room in a truckstop, minding my own business checking out the phone numbers on the wall......Wait, what were we talking about.... O yea, now I remember. While doing a search about railroads in Michigan, this was the 2nd on the list and one of the better ones.
Re: So how did you find out about RRfan??
My brother had this site on his computer, I used to read posts under his name, then eventually registered my own account and began posting.
Don't know where he found it...

Steven (GLC_392) suggested the site to me when I met him in Fostoria back in 2006. I joined up with the site, then took a hiatus and eventually had my old account deleted once I joined up again in 2007.

It was Zack's constant advertisements on Michigan Shortlines and the other Michigan boards. Wore me down so I finally gave in and joined. (j/k, Zack, it was the quality of the site that got me to join, but your "advertisements" made me aware of it)

I honestly don't remember. I probably followed some link off another website. May have been my fascination with Jim Thias too...

Re: So how did you find out about RRfan??
About a year ago, I was looking for somewhere I could find answers on a couple questions I had about Wellsboro, IN. I came across this board, signed up, posted my questions, and got quick, helpful information. I've been roaming around the field of threads ever since.

I did a bunch of Googling on trains & railfanning in Michigan and this site kept showing up again and again. I took the hint and joined up.
