Re: Ann Arbor-Detroit Commuter Rail
I like that SEMCOG paint scheme you came up with PerRock.
Back during the 2006 World Series, you had to "Tiger Trains" which ran people from Pontiac to Detroit and back.
Here's are news articles from the Press & Guide:

Re: Ann Arbor-Detroit Commuter Rail
I saw a lot of people at work this weekend getting on the Michigan Ave. SMART 200 bus for the Downtown Hoedown. All of the buses for this route were late on Friday and Saturday. I'm certain people would of used commuter rail, if were available to them, for big ticket events in Ann Arbor or Detroit.
I hope in the near future, to hop on a commuter train and ride to Ann Arbor for a University Michigan Football or go to a Detroit Tigers baseball game in Detroit.

Actually that picture is a (poorly) photoshopped F59PHI. Note the 3 windows across the front; and the platform. The picture they used is an Metrolink F59PH, one can tell based off from the color of the purple plate at the very front of the loco and the location of the numbers (which they tried to hide, under the window).OwlCaboose2853 wrote:MiTrain F40PH http://www.semcog.org/A2D2June2010UpdateTEST.aspx
That all being said, does anyone know what units they have gotten to pull this train? Did they get Metrolink's F59PHs? or some F40s?

WOW! I had forgotten about those units. Any one know what happened to those, was it two or three, Amtrak units in the 450 series?

Re: Ann Arbor-Detroit Commuter Rail
They were a joint project between Amtrak, EMD and Siemans IIRC. 2 were built IIRC, after they were done testing on Amtrak, they were painted up in Siemans colors and pulled the German ICE train around the country when it came to the US in the early 90's. I believe they are still sitting out back in La Grange, albiet heavily modified.sd70accsxt700 wrote:WOW! I had forgotten about those units. If we are going to list the F59PHI; we might as well include the MP36PH

I LOVE those old F40's. I'd love to see those tooling around on a daily basis.

I find it highly unlikley that they are going to fork out 2 million on new units. I think Owl was asking what older units on the for sale lists are they going to get. Also according to there article they are going to be stainless steel units? OK dont know what those would be, other then some old CB&Q E6's or something. I would have to say look for F40's. In fact didnt Raildudes Dad say they were going to be F40's at one point.
