Could it be? Three possible GP38's or GP39's headed north on 302 behind the 4124 and 4125. All are ex-BNSF. Two in BN green, and 1 in pumpkin orange.

how about possibly MQT..
GRAND ELK GP-39's
The GD ELK seems to have purchased some GP 39's. Three of them are in BN paint sitting at Botsford.
Mark it Zero.
Re: GRAND ELK GP-39's
darn! I loved the ability to go and shoot every Grand Elk with a matching consist. Now there's luck involved.
Now, I haven't spent too much time on the Grand Elk, but it certainly didn't appear that they were power short. New business?

Re: GRAND ELK GP-39's
It'd be nice to see a matched set of the ex-BN units as well. But I will agree that a BN painted unit and a GDLK painted unit together wouldn't be an ideal combo for me.LSRC wrote:darn! I loved the ability to go and shoot every Grand Elk with a matching consist. Now there's luck involved.

The ex-CN units on the GDLK will be returned soon, as the lease is nearly up.

Funny how the lease thing works, WAMX is Webb Assest Management. Webb is the owner of Watco.

Re: GRAND ELK GP-39's
Is it WAMX is leasing them? And there lease is up, and not GLDK's lease of the WAMX units. That sure seams funny.

Re: GRAND ELK GP-39's
Sounds normal. Corporate company leases the power and then sub leases it to each line. Snailamerica dumped all of their leased LLPX power this summer replaced it with FEC power. Railamerica is technically leasing the FEC GP40s and GP38s and then sub leasing them out eack line, i.e. CFE, NECR...... All about the boring accounting.

From another board...
This morning, I noticed the new Grand Elk units (mentioned previously as sighted in train 302 on 11/29/10) sitting at the GDLK Mills St. Kalamazoo locomotive terminal. BNSF #2108 and #2109 are both GP-38-2, ex-BN units (11/74), in the green scheme, while BNSF #2972 is an ex-GM&O GP-35 (02/64), upgraded to a GP-39V, in orange.

Here's a shot of the new additions at Botsford. Wires, clutter, and terrible lighting make for an absolutely unimpressive shot, but it gives an idea of what will be roaming the rails of the Grand Elk soon. Still solid, unpatched BNSF units at this point.

So, Yesterday I got sick of the clouds and decided to try this. I put a generator in the bed of my truck and rigged up some lights. This was a shot I took just to capture the sciene with my truck and light rig. Somehow it worked, Kind of.
