Amtrak engine catches fire in Elyria
Amtrak engine catches fire in Elyria
From the video they show, the lead engine looks in pretty rough shape from the damage. Looks like engine 112.
FROM WEWS TV CLEVELAND:
Fire crews in Elyria responded to a train engine fire at an Amtrak station at 410 E. River St.
The lead engine of an Amtrak passenger train caught fire and burst into flames around 6:30 a.m. About 350 passengers were on the train at the time, but nobody was injured in the fire, according to Amtrak officials.
Workers were able to disconnect the lead engine from the rest of the train, to keep the passengers away from danger. The train car with the lead engine was moved about 150 feet away from the rest of the train cars, and the passengers stayed on board so that they would not be let out in the cold. A second engine provided heat to the passengers.
Workers have moved portions of the burned train to a sidetrack and traffic and resumed, but train traffic has been significantly delayed as a result of the fire.
Also, homeland security is on the scene investigating the incident. It is standard procedure for homeland security to investigate a large train fire.
We will update the story once we receive more information.

He means that he doesn't really care too much about it, he doesn't think that the engine catching on fire is sad or dissapointing. I don't either.F40PH Fan wrote: What is that supposed to mean?

Re: Amtrak engine catches fire in Elyria
I mean EVERY P42 could catch on fire and burn up and then I would be a happy Amtrak engineer---although I'm sure our crack mechanical department would work miracles and get them all back running PRONTO.....
Oh wait, I said mech. dept. and crack and pronto.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Me and Nevets got photos of it a Miami St. in Toledo, on Friday, and again at the Depot, waiting on a crew change. It will be at least next week before I can post photos, I think, as I am up north and dont have any way to post it.

Luck of the draw. Heard Toledo Yard talking to 344? who wanted to go east and said he had to get a couple amtrak engines into the station first.
