With the string of cold weather, Amtraks consists on the Wolverine service have been differant day to day. Yesterdays Amtrak 350 terminated in Detroit and passengers were bused to Royal Oak and the northern suburbs. Amtrak 350 also had no rear unit on the train yesterday.
Today, I decided to go out in this cold weather and watch Amtrak #353 come into Royal Oak. Now that I am out in the Northern suburbs, this is a great new spot for me on the CN Holly Sub as Im nowhere near the NS/ Amtrak Michigan Line. 353 was right on time at about 11:27am with the following consist:
#31 P42 Genesis Amtrak Phase V (Wave)
54048 Horizon Coach Amtrak Phase V (Wave)
54527 Horizon Coach Amtrak Phase III
54550 Horizon Coach Amtrak Phase III
54539 Horizon Coach Amtrak Phase IV
48177 Amfleet Cafe Amtrak Phase V (Wave)
#37 P42 Genesis Amtrak Phase V (Wave)
Here is a video of Amtrak 353 departing Royal Oak, MI 2/6/07:

I fing this link on Amtrak Horns to be interesting:
http://www.gobytrain.us/amtrak/notes/horns.html
I have noticed differances between locomotives. #31 has an old model K5LA and the number 3A Bell is dominant.. this you might notice in the video gives #31 a slightly differant sound. IMO it sounds like its blowing a "minor" key
To keep from pushing other threads, perhaps I can continue this one as "Amtrak Consits" and others can share reports on what equipment is being used.
Here is Amtrak #350 "The Wolverine" departing from Dearborn, MI 1/27/07 with NPCU #90200 in the lead:

Enjoy the videos, I like the Royal Oak one from Today, lots of horn on the departure! Anyone seen 90200 lately?
