2 x 4 N-scale layout
2 x 4 N-scale layout
So I decided to build a small layout on a left over piece of 2 inch insulation board. It is 2ft x 4ft. I don't have a layout yet but do have a pretty good collection of HO stuff. When I decided to do this, I started lookin for good deals on N-scale track and things. After accumulating 4 turnouts one cross-over and some roadbed I started. Here is my progres so far.
I am planing on keeping it really simple, just thought it might be a good place to try my hand at scenery and track laying and what ever else.

Looks like the beginnings of GLC's line from Cadillac to Yuma

Looks good fellow N-Scaler....
Re: 2 x 4 N-scale layout
That's a great little N scale layout. You should add more spurs and industries on the corners and/or center of the layout. It would make it feel like a true railroad.

Re: 2 x 4 N-scale layout
I respectfully disagree, leave the corners open, give it room to breath.
Re: 2 x 4 N-scale layout
Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I do think I will leave the track plan as is. Being that it is pretty small to begin with, it is pretty cramped already. I only wish I had more time to work on it lately. Hopefully I'll have some more updates soon.

Looks like fun to build but not many options in the way of operation.

I guess that it all depends on if you want to operate trains or run toys around in a circle.

With a good imagination and another spur or two I would think an operating session could last an hour or so. The old switch a spur, make several laps, switch another spur, etc.railohio wrote:Looks like fun to build but not many options in the way of operation.

Kyle, you could do spurs for industries/ interchanges on the corners of your layout and one inside the passing siding. It's your layout and you choose how to run your railroad, but was just a suggestion.

Looks good to me, if you try and cram any more track in you'll start to get the "spaghetti bowl" effect.
