G87905 with some hot power, 79 cars for Grand Ledge, should be in the G.L. area by 06:00. Power will stay there. CSX 65 leading, 7819 4599 654 trailing. You don't see many SD80mac's in this area. Even a CW60AC in the consist.

Earlier, G87902 went west, CSX 777 5344 either for Webberville or GRP.

GRE worked yesterday, brought back lots of Kings and most if not all the gons. I expect it to be quiet today. 167 pushing 371.

If what I'm hearing is correct, Q334 has CSX 2781, a GP38-2, leading today.

Correction, CSX 8062 and 8811 leading Q334. Just stalled coming out of the Thornapple Valley, head end is stopped just west of 136.7 at McCords. Sounds like either Y106 will come out and push or they'll double.

G780 heading out of GR, 5344 and 777 for power. Leaving their train at Fox, going to shove 334 to Elmdale.

Doc. Cant give em hell anymore. That was the old days. Now it's safety, fuel conservation and 100% rule compliance. How anything get's done down there is beyond me. Glad the Marquette still operates with the customer in mined. Notch 8 with sand!

Maybe if someone explains to management you do not save fuel by stalling and recharging or doubling up hills they will understand the plight and add power / reduce train size .

I can see some youngster fresh out of college in the logistics department who has never set foot on a train telling said manager, "According to my statistics you only need 2 SD40-2's so it must be the fault of the engineer".
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

Even rail conditions (wet, iced over, etc) can effect the tractive effort of a locomotive. A train that a given power consist pulled one day might not move it very well the next. With management so concerning about share value and pleasing Wall St, you would think that getting the correct power on a train would be paramount to reducing their operating ratio. Having a few spare locomotives sitting in key yards could save untold dollars in delays, recrews, taxi van costs, etc. It almost appears that even with tonnage levels coming back to pre 2008 levels that management is doing what ever they can to keep as many locomotives in storage and off the operating roles as possbile.

The rain and resulting wet rail didn't help Q334 this morning at all either.
