New Marquette Rail engines
Re: New Marquette Rail engines
As of Sunday, one of the units (2191?) was still sitting in the Grand Elk's Hugart Yard. If this is the original one, what's the holdup?
Re: New Marquette Rail engines
i bet it's csx trying to stop mqt from getting it.

Grand Elk is slow to deliver because the don't have the traffic to warrant running everyday to GR. CSX,once again has cut our other life line to the GLC, but ripping up the Baldwin to Clare line. I'm sure that's why they did it. It has been brought up more than once, that if that line was still there, MQT could give CSX the Bird and move most traffic that way. So, for the near future anyway, we have to deal with it.
That's exactly what is happening...Doktor No wrote:One of the STIPULATIONS OF THE LEASE is MQT can only interchange directly with CSX. Now supposedly they CAN interchange NEW TRAFFIC with others but they never have. Its IN THE RULES OF THE GAME of Trains. Ya know, an AGREEMENT. They have ta live with it.
Now we do get cars from GLK and cars to GLK from MQT back and forth so there must be a price advantage of some sort or it wouldn't happen. Maybe it would be cheaper still without CSX in the way but c'est la vie.

Yes, please get this thing out of our yard. It's UP colors are clashing with our bumblebees and our BN placeholders.
Did somebody rip off the waybills off the windows, and that is why its waiting in Hughart for "paperwork"?
Re: New Marquette Rail engines
MQT has been using GMTX 2635 and GMTX 2648 on their Baldwin train as of late.
GMTX 2191 still in Grand Rapids at Grand Elk
GMTX 2177 and GMTX 2192 moving around Vermont as of 5/10 on NECR at Saint Albans.
No sign of GMTX 2183 or GMTX 2188 yet.

Is CSX's motto still "Last weeks freight three weeks from now!" I makes one wonder how this company manages to stay in the game at all. They should just sell Grand Rapids east and be done with it.

Doc, I think you are thinking of a qualifier from the clearance department. All high-wides, locomotives and high value stuff needs it to travel over CSX. Locomotives need to be inspected to see if the have something on the couplers, I want to say it is coupler limiting blocks, or something like that. CSX had a bad derailment down around Nashville a couple of years of ago due to an engine dead in tow that did not have the blocks. Since then any engines traveling over the system is required to have them.

Re: New Marquette Rail engines
All that aside, someone got of their rear-end and actually did something about the engine. Went by this morning like I usually do on my bus and it was gone. Either it disappeared to K-Zoo or CSX came and got it.

GMTX 2191 is up on MQT Rail now
GMTX 2177 sitting at Hugart Yard in Grand Rapids awaiting CSX to give to MQT
GMTX 2192 ran down to Paducah KY, and is down there now on the Paducah and Louisville Railway, going to MQT soon enough one would think.
No sign of GMTX 2183 or GMTX 2188 yet.

Re: New Marquette Rail engines
Well I guess its official, GMTX 2191 no longer exists. MQT 2004 is official new markings. Now if only CSX could allow the GMTX 2177 to leave Hugart, then maybe some time in the next month Marquette could get their next engine . I Just don't know how CSX does it. Still dumping on the little guy. Go CSX!!!!
Re: New Marquette Rail engines
GMTX 2192 in Kalamazoo on GDLK as of 6/27. Can't tell if GMTX 2177 ever got off GDLK at Grand Rapids to CSX to MQT.
GMTX 2183 and GMTX 2188 are out at Worcester MA as of 7/1 on the Providence and Worcester Railroad.

Anyone know why they would not have been transferred in the one months time since they arrived?cnw8835 wrote:Still at Hughart as of Sunday.¶aragraph wrote:Can't tell if GMTX 2177 ever got off GDLK at Grand Rapids to CSX to MQT.

Re: New Marquette Rail engines
Yes, and because it is CSX may in itself answer my question. But I am hoping to get some feedback about what may be going on. Paper work problems, MQT can not take possesion yet, etc.Conrail Jon wrote:It's CSX, remember?

Reported on the Yahoo P&W Group, the GMTX 2183 and 2188 departed Worcester on CSX train Q-423 at 4pm 7/6/11. Sorry for the late post, been on vacation.

77 has FRA defects. The 92 in KaZoo has Bullwinkle issues. 88&83 are on CSX and should be to the Manistee & Northeastern next week.AARR wrote:Anyone know why they would not have been transferred in the one months time since they arrived?cnw8835 wrote:Still at Hughart as of Sunday.¶aragraph wrote:Can't tell if GMTX 2177 ever got off GDLK at Grand Rapids to CSX to MQT.
