Units trains out of Defiance ?

Unread post by AC60CW »

Read in the Crescent News about a transload or something going in around Defiance. Article said something about loading 70 grain cars on a "loop" that was being built.

Anyone care to follow up on anything they heard or know? I threw the paper away and can't fully quote or convey the information.

Location is west of Defiance along Baltimore Street. Rumor has it a pretty much done deal.

At the industrial park out between 24, the MAW and CSX on the west side. Work has actually already begun so I should hope it's a done deal. Just has not yet been an official announcement. Should provide about 17 full time jobs. 70 car trains is too low, IMO, if you are going to go, go 95 like CSX wants.

You mean they're not coming off the MAW loaded at Jewell?

Is there any plans to put something rail related in the space where that vacant factory was just torn down?

No, it was just an eyesore that needed to come down, it is a brownfield site as well. The S&K Tool Plant over here on the East Side needs to come down too, it is looking really bad.

I love places like those though. Old abandoned factories are my thing. :)
