Amtrak 40th Train
Anyone know the times the train will arrive at Jackson on Saturday Oct 8th and leave on the 9th?
Re: Amtrak 40th Train
Well since train is on display on sat and sun I would ASSume it would arrive friday and depart monday morning. Probley added to regular Amtrak trains to save on crew starts.

Re: Amtrak 40th Train
For most of it's travels it has been running as it's own train. Not added to another train. I would expect this to still be the same. It may get a phase V header on it if they get the ITCS up again.KenB wrote:Well since train is on display on sat and sun I would ASSume it would arrive friday and depart monday morning. I plan on being in Jackson on the 8th to see it (the 9th is my sister's birthday so I got to be back in the deuce for that). Maybe I'll see some of you there.

if ITCS is still down (i believe that it is because I have been seeing the p40 #809) that would be great, i would much rather see that train run on it's own then with a phase VPerRock wrote:For most of it's travels it has been running as it's own train. HERE is a thread with many photos and some information from when I toured the train in Springfield, MA over the summer. It's really cool! Check it out!!

Re: Amtrak 40th Train
The anniversary train was brought out to Galesburg by the Carl Sandburg from Chicago. I wouldn't be surprised if something similar happened in Jackson.
Re: Amtrak 40th Train
I was in Galesburg that weekend and I watch it come in off Amtrak#381. When they pulled on to the stub track at the depot, they had to pull all the way up the bumper to be clear of the ground signal. I left that Sunday prior to Amtrak#380's arrival. I'm certain it went back to Chicago on Monday's #380.
The Anniversary Train to Jackson is likely to arrive the night before on #354. Most likey to return to Chicago on #355 or next morning on #351.

Where is a stub track in Jackson where they can have the train parked?

Re: Amtrak 40th Train
It will be parked on main 1 on the east end of the platform so the regular trains can still work the station
Re: Amtrak 40th Train
It should be close to Jackson now, if not already there. I saw it blow thru Dowagiac about 3:45. Unfortunately, no pics, as I was in the gas station at the checkout counter when it rolled thru (gas station is next to the tracks). It was running as its own train, with 822 leading 406. ITCS is apparently still down, as some of the trains thru town today had oddball numbers (188 was one I saw)

Re: Amtrak 40th Train
Here is the video of 406 and 822 from today. The train will be there from 10AM-4:30PM, Saturday and Sunday. Amtrak Train Masters and Road Forman of Engines are there, along with the Amtrak RR Police. Please be careful not to trespass when taking photos. Very importiant. Jackson Station is Amtrak's oldest depot in service. Visit the Depot's Facebook Page at http://www.facebook.com/jacksonamtrakstation or their website at http://www.friendsofjacksonmcstation.webs.com for more info on the event.

For a heads up on the return trip, in talking with one of the Amtrak guys yesterday, the train should be departing Jackson at 5pm today for Chicago.

I had a great time going to this yesterday (10-9)! I just happened to be the last guy touring it (which is awesome)! The train left westbound just after 5 p.m. and looked great--especially with #406 leading! I probably got excellent pix (I'll find out after the film is developed)! The whole train was so clean, that F40PH (NPCU) sure looked brand new! I haven't ever seen one that good! Come to think of it, this was the best Amtrak® train I've ever seen!!!!
I also saw the NS OCS parked at the Toledo station and that also was awesome! Adrian and Blissfield® had good stuff out too! The whole day was awesome!

The 3 pics of it I'm sharing (I took a bunch more, but of more trivial stuff for me to use as reference in my modeling).
