Depot Help
Depot Help
In the early 1990s, I was out in the Grand Rapids, Jackson, and Lansing areas taking train photos. Sadly, for the life of me I can't remember where this train depot is located at. Does anyone have a clue, and is it still standing? Thank you!

Re: Depot Help
I believe your photo was taken in St. Johns but part of me wants to say that it is from Ionia. In either case the depots are still standing but the tracks are gone. I guess we have to take the good with the bad.
Lookin' and smellin' darn GOOD!

Re: Depot Help
Why does the roof look green in CRJon's pic but brown in NYC3001's?

His shot looks like it was taken several years before mine. Look how run down the depot looks in his shot.

Re: Depot Help
Was just in Ionia today. The depot is still standing. Looks good. Of course the tracks are gone and have been for several years now. The depot is being used by a business but I'm not sure which one. There was a neon 'open' sign in one of the doors/windows.

The roof is a different roof...notice how the shingles differ in the two photos.AARR wrote:Why does the roof look green in CRJon's pic but brown in NYC3001's?

Re: Depot Help
The green steel roof is still on today.
I honestly don't remember the exact date the rails were pulled. I know they were gone in 2009. I was thinking it was earlier but then things run together in my mind.

Its housing a hair salon or tanning salon, some kind of salon if I remember right.

Another view in May of 2007. The tracks were pulled some time in 2009 as already stated, but I'm not sure of the exact date. It was late winter or early spring, as Gregg P commented on my photo that the tracks were gone as of May 31.
