Best Locations for B&O signals?
Best Locations for B&O signals?
Aside from Deshler and Cincy, what else is good on that line south from Toledo?

There's many places a long the Toledo Sub. The vast majority of the control points still have CPL's left. you just have to stop at one of the to get some pictures or check my Flickr page for ideas.

All Control points north of Deshler are Still CPL equipped as well. Including a Cantilever (for Northbounds at the North end of Tontogany Siding) one of the last original signal bridges (for southbounds at the South end of Haskins siding) and a "shorty" post signal (for northbounds at the North end of Haskins siding)

Wapak has all 4 light positions. SW Cabin in Swanders has some as well and with up in Ottawa but these are only the 3 position.Beal99 wrote:Aside from Deshler and Cincy, what else is good on that line south from Toledo?

Both ends of Piqua siding, both ends of Troy, and the south end of Tipp City. Out of these, I think north Troy and north Tipp are the best shots, especially at this time of the year. I've never tried to shoot at south Troy. There is an access road off of 25A though I've never ventured back there.

The northbound signal at the south end of Ottawa has all four light positions. The signal will line up "Restricting" if you are going north into the "Ottawa Loop." Also forgotten, the northbound signal at XN (south end of Liepsic siding) has all four positions. It has "Restricting" for going north on the I&O.Huelsy'sTrainBlog wrote:Wapak has all 4 light positions. The Northbound Signal at Perry also has all 8 positions filled. It's been this way since the track between Bates & Stanley was signled for bi-directional traffic 10 yrs or so ago.

Thanks for the correction! I haven't payed alot of attention to the ones at Ottawa because I am normally driving past and they are only red!slwapprslw wrote:The northbound signal at the south end of Ottawa has all four light positions. You can't without trespassing.Beal99 wrote:ok I found Swanders, how the heck do you get back to those signals?
Your only options are shooting with a telephoto lens from the Sharp Rd. crossing at MP 102, or from the Ft.Loramie-Swanders crossing in "downtown" Swanders. Sun angle-wise at this time of the year, southbounds naturally are your best bet.
