Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...
I believe almost all of the road salt around here comes from the Lake Erie area.
Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...
I think I did misspeak. It was soda ash midland was talking about coming from Utah/western state not salt.

4/9/12. WB LIFW at 11:31PM. Leading once again were CSX 7836/CFE 3880 and in tow were 60 cars. In the train were 21 Cargill salt hoppers: CLSX and CGCX, 12 box cars: including several IANR and GNRR going back WB after going EB on that 179 car EB FWLI awhile back-110 of them in that train, 9 empty steel flats, 8 grain cars: all Bunge traffic, 5 gons and 5 tank cars all Bunge traffic. Cruising along at track speed.
Still 19 grain cars at Scott Equity along with 6 ACFX "OMYA" plastics hoppers for CSP.
Still at last check 6 soda ash hoppers at the VW Terminal for transloading.

Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...
I hope they switch at Scott Equity tomorrow because i want to make a youtube video.
Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...
alittlevanwerty, the LIVW [Lima/Van Wert] turn was in Van Wert today. I heard them go out to Continental Structural Plastics on the southside of town. Took out some ACFX "OMYA" plastics hoppers. It is unlikely they will be back tomorrow. But, they've done it before. So good luck and hope it works out.

4/10/12. WB LIFW at 10:11PM through Van Wert. Leading were IORY 4032/4036 with 30 cars. The train had 15 grain cars: CSYX, AEX, BNGX, FURX, NOKL among others, 4 empty steel flats, 4 gons, 3 plastics hoppers, 2 CN box cars and 2 tank cars for Bunge.
LIVW was in town this afternoon took out the 6 plastics hoppers to CSP and there are still around the 19 grain cars at Scott Equity. Probably picked up 3-4 plastics hoppers that were empty at CSP. Dont know if they worked the VW Terminal. Also, don't know unit/s that were in town.

Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...
I didn't make it to Van Wert til after 6pm. I was in Celina and follow the RJ Corman track past Celina until I spotted them returning from Lima. I spent the next 5 hours railfaning them. I took about 8 videos which I will be posting on youtube shortly. Next time I will get the CFE.

Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...
Scott Equity was pushing cars across Bonnewitz when I was heading to work yesterday. About 6 were left on the north side of the street.
Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...
Scott Equity has a total 33 cars there now. Looks like 28 grain cars and 5 plastics hoppers for CSP. Gettin' kinda crowded down there since the LIVW was in town this afternoon.

Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...
After work tomorrow, I will be following the "Spore Run" from National Lime Stone near Spore. The power went east to Mansfield this evening and this usually runs as a local back to Crestline as C735. C735 then becomes K732 lite westbound to Spore. They then switch Spore and build a train of 30-40 stone cars, and head east to Wooster on Friday afternoon/evening. The symbol stays K732 back to Wooster, which is a change because it had just been running as C735. Anyways, last week the units failed and we did not get to see this move in daylight. Hopefully this week things go a bit more smoothly. This is CF&E trackage all the way out to the quarry.

Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...
Well, Friday night caught the K732 departing Spore and heading to drop 60 stone loads at Wooster. The power then comes back lite, but I wonder when they bring the cars back. At any rate, I'll just link a few photos, but this is more for just the operational report. The train left Spore about 6:30pm, so most of these were done in lower lighting than I'd like. The first location was Shafer Road, just southeast of the village of Spore:

I then gave chase down to Quaker Road, at MP 67 just north of the US 30 overpass:

The last shots were at the Rt. 98 crossing (Plymouth St.) in Bucyrus, at a very confined crossing:

My last 3 shots are at Crestline for NS 578, which came via Mansfield this evening:

Nice pictures BDCR. Thanks for posting. A few questions. Is this on the CF&E? Why CSX power?bdconrail29 wrote:Well, Friday night caught the K732 departing Spore and heading to drop 60 stone loads at Wooster.

Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...
Thanks. Yes this is CF&E all the way. It came when CSX leased it to CF&E, the section between Colsan in Bucyrus to Spore is included. However, this is a CSX train and crew, operating on trackage rights to Spore. It's similar as to why the grain trains have CSX power that go into and depart Crestline grain facility.AARR wrote:Nice pictures BDCR. Thanks for posting. A few questions. Is this on the CF&E? 4/15/12. EB FWLI at 5:42PM. Hitting the diamond was IORY red & orange unit/CFE unit and 31 cars. Too faraway to catch unit numbers. In the train were 4-5 box cars, 1 coil car, 2 tank cars and the rest was pretty much grain cars.
At 9:30PM also through Van Wert was the WB LIFW I believe. Didn't see it was inside in grossed in something else. Unless, it was a grain train but didn't sound like CSX units.
Still about 33 covered hoppers at the Scott Equity. At least 3 are plastics hoppers for CSP.
Only a few soda ash hoppers at the Van Wert Terminal LLC.

Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...
4/16/12. LIVW was in Van Wert doing work with it looked like IORY 4032. Went out and worked CSP. Came back from there and picked up around 26 loaded grain hoppers from the Scott Equity for the return VWLI. Leaving 1 lonely AEX grain car. There are 6 plastics hoppers for CSP at the Scott Equity: 3 NAHX, 1 ACFX and 2 EPTX cars.
As of today 4/17 the Van Wert Terminal soda ash transload operation has reloaded with 18 soda ash hoppers. These may very well have came in on LIVW yesterday. More semis getting loaded today for Indiana.
Very nice pics and report bdconrail29.

Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...
More CF&E news, the Spore Run, K732, did run eastbound again today with about 60 stone loads. I don't know if this will substitute this Friday's run or if they are just that busy. Caught it at Crestline about 6:30pm and he went into Mansfield behind the #170.
