GLC 7/3/2012 Traverse City
Yesterday, thanks to a headsup from AANscaleRunner I had the oppurtunity to chase the GLC while it was in Traverse City. The first good photo came from Williamsburg as the crew was running around the cars.
The next picture came from the field behind the Turtle Creek Casino, which is just west of Williamsburg.
After chasing them back to my house I decided it would be tough to chase them into downtown TC due to the heavy tourist traffic. So I went south of TC on Keystone Road and River Road which both parallel the tracks. Here is a shot of the 395 rounding a corner long hood forward.
Next I raced further south along River Road to where the tracks crossed the Boardman River on a lengthy bridge. There were some people waiting to float down the river in inner tubes.
Any comments are welcome.

Thanks KC and A No.1. I had been looking at these spots for awhile now but never had the time to set them up until this now. They really are some of the more photogenic spots on the line.

Re: GLC 7/3/2012 Traverse City
I love all of the photo stories which chronicle GLC action in the north country. The trains are never long, but the power looks good and the possible photo locations are endless. Thanks to KC and others for capturing and reporting on what the GLC is up to. I remember when I had a college class at NWMC and we had found a cheap hotel room in Kalkaska. We'd drive every day back and forth on M-72, past Williamsburg, and I would think about seeing a train at some of these various spots on the old C&O from Traverse City east. So I love to see when someone was lucky enough to "get the catch!" That field shot is awesome. Thanks for sharing!

Do you have a desktop size copy of the Field photo? Easily my favorite shot from the GLC era of the North country
Re: GLC 7/3/2012 Traverse City
Perhaps it is the rarity of trains in TC that makes railfanning there so exciting.
Great shots! Makes me wish my in laws still lived there

I don't quite understand what your asking? The photo fits my desktop but it's a little compressed. Thanks everyone for the comments, they are some of my best photos of the line so far.JANGAJONGA wrote:Do you have a desktop size copy of the Field photo? He's wondering if you have a larger version of it than the one you posted.TCtrainguy17 wrote:I don't quite understand what your asking? The photo fits my desktop but it's a little compressed. Yeah I do. When you post an image it gets resized to fit the page.SD80MAC wrote:He's wondering if you have a larger version of it than the one you posted.TCtrainguy17 wrote:I don't quite understand what your asking?
