Consolidated Barge and Grain

Unread post by dominique »

It looks like CSX is starting to get some trackwork going in the new grain elevator that is going up west of Defiance, Ohio. I saw quite a few trucks and railroad ties stacked all around the facility today on my way home from work, as well as some MOW equipment. I'm curious how this will look once everything gets up and running. It could make for some interesting train watching.

Might also explain the GP30 Slug set Q509 was dropping off at Defiance yesterday.

I think 509 just traded out Y101 power.

Q508 and Q509 frequently pick up and set off power at Defiance for Y101.

By the way, which way is the GP30 slug facing?

I kind of figured that CSX was putting in a turnout, but I only could catch a glimpse from Dooley Rd, so I really couldn't see anything except for all of the trucks and the MOW equipment.

The power wasn't dropped off for Y101. The pair was tied onto a rail train Tuesday night when I was in town.

AFAIK, the rail train wasn't for the new grain plant.

New turnout officially was used tonight with the first grain train arriving G870-07 from Chicago. If someone took the engineering lock off.

Wow! Didn't know it was "all systems go" already. Sweet.
