D709-07 out of Ensel Tuesday evening had two car loads of new rail on it as well for GLC. Am not sure if it got sat off or not. He went east at 405am by the house but had to wait for Q334 to run thru the siding around him first before running around his train. 334 did not clear the siding at AnnPere until 430am. Did not get up to see 709 go back west at 511am but he would be hard pressed to have time to run around his train and switch GLC as well in that amount of time. Regardless, it sounds as if there are at least four car loads of rail if not more. Maybe its for this hot new Howell to Ann Arbor commuter train supposidly coming soon, for real (so they say)
it is easier yes but TSBY just dont have the tools to put in welded rail but there is some welded rail on the line. is there any more flat cars enroute of rail? 3 flats will not take care of what they want to do.
Doesn't sound like any of this rail is going in to replace current mainline.. it's going in for the new ethanol plant, so jointed makes sense. Per TC John:
South of Alma, by Ithica yesterday I saw what appears to be a large project, new siding being laid, switches (looks like several tracks). Not leading to any buildings, so not sure what's going on there. Lots of new ties, rail, and graded land headed southeast from the main line.
